Imam Ahmad ibn ‘Ajiba رحمه الله said in his autobiography,
“Know that the fruit of knowledge is action, that the fruit of action is one’s state [al-hal], that the fruit of one’s state is taste [al-dhawq], that the fruit of taste is drinking [al-shurb],that drinking is followed by intoxication [al-sukr] and intoxication by lucidy [al-sahw], and that lucidity is followed by deliverance [al-wisal], which is nothing other than stability [tamkin] and rootedness [rusuh] in the contemplated object…”
