There is a very fine line between intention and surrender.
Intention is becoming clear on what we want, whilst surrendering is trusting in the outcome.
We live it everyday within Salat when we sincerely say –
‘You (Allah) alone we worship, You alone we ask for help. Guide us along the straight path.’ (Quran – Surah al-Fatiha)
And remember once we do this,
‘He (Allah) will provide him from [sources] he could never imagine. And whoever puts their trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Most certainly, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Indeed, Allah has set a measure for all things. (Quran 65:3)
